About Me

Welcome to The Reading Nook! My name is Lisa, and I’m so glad that you are here. In this small corner of the web, I’ve set up a place where I can find expression through books. Books are more than just a bunch of paper bound together. They are more than the sum of the various stories they tell. They are even more than their cumulative recorded history of past lives. Books are a means of building bridges between people, regardless of where you come from in the world.

For me, books offer escape, a means of exploration, an invitation to learning and even a method of learning more about myself. Books help to build knowledge, understanding, and strong thinking and reasoning skills. But they also help people get in touch with their human and creative sides. So, I have chosen this means of sharing with anyone who might be interested my insights and thoughts about some of the books I read.

As for me, I am a native Utahn, currently living what I refer to as my Mormon expat, bohemian lifestyle in Washington state. I have a bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Public Administration where I learned the skills for working. But it is through books that I have learned the more important lessons about life and living. I love books, bookstores, and libraries. I also love sharing this passion with others. There is an added dimension that comes from sharing books with others. Through discussion, we open greater insight and understanding that helps books take on greater meaning and instructive potential. This type of discussion also helps to build bridges to people as they learn how books influence not only themselves but others as well.

I am happy to provide honest book reviews. For more information, fill out the form below:
