I am a yearly participant of the Goodreads reading challenge. I strive each year to increase the number of books I read. Now that I am out of school, I find that I have a lot to catch up on in my to be read pile! This year my goal is to read 120 books. However, I have opted to add another dimension to my reading challenge.
I have to admit, following last year’s U.S. presidential election I found myself as one of many, troubled in the wake of our presidential choice. I find myself frustrated with much of President Trump’s administration — but I don’t say this to open one more debate over democrat vs. republican. Rather, I have found a more positive means of channeling my frustration. So, this year I have opted to read the biographies of all the U.S. presidents from Washington to Trump.
I am hoping that this will give me some more perspective on the history of the office, and the men who have filled it since its inception. I am hoping to learn more about the presidency as an office, but also the political process, election system and the aftermath of the various historical elections of this country.
